How much does it cost to fix a crashed macbook air or can I fix this one?
I have a crashed macbook air (aluminum unibody). When I try to turn it on, it will either wont come on, or it will come on but stay at the startup screen with the apple sign. How much would it cost to fix it and also, can i fix it myself?
I am willing to bet your MB Air hardware is not broken. There are a half dozen possible reasons why it might hang at startup as described in the first link below. Try these things in this order:
Disconnect everything except the power cord and restart. If that has no bearing, read on.
Restart holding the Shift key for at least 30 seconds (past where the spinning gear icon appears). If that enables a complete startup, see the second link below to understand “Safe Boot”. Some of the processes that occur during Safe Boot can fix certain problems, so restart again after Safe Boot (don’t try to open a lot of applications since some won’t run in Safe Boot) but in the normal way without holding Shift.
If the first Safe Boot attempt got it to startup fully, but the restart without Safe Boot still hangs, do Safe Boot again and troubleshoot your user account Login Items (third link below).
On the other hand, if holding Shift did not make it startup fully, boot to the OS install disc, go past the language screen, and open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select the hard drive, select the “First Aid” tab, and choose to repair the hard drive (NOT repair permissions). If it shows “No repairs were necessary”, quit Disk Utility, and go forward to choose “Options”, and then “Archive and install”, but put a check for “Preserve Users and network settings”.
On the other hand, if any problem is found by Disk Utility, repair again. If it did find problems, and the second repair attempt still finds problems, you must either buy some stronger disk repair software or quit Disk Utility, go forward with the installation, choose “Options” and choose “Erase and install”. With that option, all your data will be lost.

If you have not heard of TiVo and DVR yet take a close look at what they offer. TiVo is an incredible system that gives you the ability to rewind and even pause television while it is airing. In addition to TiVo’s ability to pause and rewind television that is live, you will be able to fast forward TV after you have paused it for a certain amount of time. In other words, let’s say that you are watching the football game and you have to get up to get a snack or use the restroom, with TiVo you can pause it and resume when you return. On top of pausing the game, when you get back you will be able to actually fast forward through any commercials all the way up into the point where TV is being aired. Now, instead of waiting until the next commercial break to get a snack or use the restroom, you can actually happily go in the middle of the game knowing that you will not have to sit through the next commercial break.
The DVR system (also known as the Digital Video Recorder) replaces the VCR (or, of course, the Video Cassette Recorder) and revolutionized television recording as we know it. The VCR had so many problems attached to it, as I am sure you can remember (or still deal with). How about recording on fast or slow speed? How do you ever know which it is supposed to be, and even if you are doing it right? Half the time you end up recording only the first half of the show if you are on the wrong speed! What about the VCR’s lousy recording timer? When you first got your VCR it seemed you would never have to rush home from work in fear of missing your favorite program again! But you were wrong weren’t you? Instead of the VCR being a reliable solution, it became an easier way to miss your favorite program since you thought it was going to record your show when the timer decides not to work properly. Now it is true that not everyone has experienced those specific problems but we all know of the difficulty of storing those cumbersome Video Cassettes! People will load up bookshelves with old video cassettes, making for a rather unattractive conversation piece. Not only is there the problem of storing video cassettes, there is also the general problems of frustrations that come with recording with the VCR. In order to tape a show on the VCR you have to set a rather primitive timer and be sure that you set it at the correct recording speed. Many have found time and time again that the timer is faulty and that it is difficult to always record at the proper speed. Now these problems are over with TiVo and the DVR, or Digital Video Recorder (the VCR of the new millennium) offered by DirecTV.
Now if you think it doesn’t get any better than that, just wait until you hear about HD TV and all of the Sports and Movie channels offered with DirecTV packages. It doesn’t get any better than DirecTV.

I was wondering what happens if you unplug a SATA Data connector from your pc motherboard?
I am trying to install a video card but there are two SATA Data connectors blocking the way. They are connected to one of the hard drives but i dont know if its the main hard drive [HP (C:)] Would it be okay for me to just unplug it and would i lose any memory or any data from my PC?

unless you are working on a file you can safely unplug any sata hard drive. they are hot swappable . Now if your OS in on the hard drive you want to remove that’s a different story don’t do that. before you install any part you’ll have to unplug the pc.just unplug the pc. unplug the drive install the card then put the sata cable back where it was
