Yes, seriously. You can go to your local TVG (telecommuting video game) human resources office. You need to take a resume…perhaps some screen shots of your high scores in a few games. You can go online to see what games they are seeking expertise in. Be sure to dress nicely…while you can wear what you want if you GET the job…a certain amount of professionalism will be expected when you get there.
You can find the TVG HR department located 3-doors down from the Money Tree. You can turn left at the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Be sure to pet Puff the Magic Dragon on your way (he’s a bit old now) and insert your Willy Wonka chocolate wrapper at the guard gate. He’ll take you right over there on a magic carpet.

ALthough rare and hard to get, you might be able to get a job as an off-site tester. Of course this most of the time means having to stay in a hotel room and play the same game for hours on end. Some companies allow you to test from home but that’s pretty rare. I currently work for a premier video game publishing company in the Bay Area (California). Been trying to get one of those positions but it seems I can only be an in-house tester. That’s ok though, overtime rocks (whenever I get it again…)!
