I just turned 16 and I have three more months till I get my license (in Virginia). I have a few areas of interest… I would consider myself to be a tech-savvy person, I know the basics of computer programming, I like to write about politics (liberal), I know a ton about geography (more than most Jeopardy contestants).
I would just like some ideas (something that has the potential to make a lot of money). I am currently fixing computers and reselling them on eBay, but the profit margins aren’t that high, I really just want something I can start with and work my way up… not some gimmicky survey-taking site (believe me, I have tried those too).
A blog?
Freelancing (under 18, legally)?
A website (I would have to learn JavaScript)?
Any ideas?
-Thanks
By the way, I’m not looking for spam
, I’m not quite that stupid.
so have a nice day

I operate an outsourcing website(Main Website for Earning) and earn my living through it. The payment is processed through online merchants and sent in my bank account. I am currently living outside USA for about 2 years. Payment is sent in my US bank account and then my cousin in USA wire the amount to the country I am currently living in, where I use that wired amount to pay the salaries to my freelance employees.
1. Now I want to know if I have to file tax for all the scenario above. As this is just a website I have not registered it as DBA or sole proprietor or anything.
I have filed tax in USA but only for my other website whose earning is totally from Google ad-sense ads thats goes into my same bank account as well.
2. If I have not filed tax for my main website for the last 2 years how can I do that in the next income tax return?
3. Do I have to mention the amount in my bank account while filing the tax.
Thanks..
I am a permanent resident (A green card holder) and on a 2 year re entry permit for a valid reason.

my husband is; loyal, hard working, friendly and a great coworker. He is always there early and leaves late. Does the things other people dont want to do. But has the brick wall up about not finding a better job. He is certified in a number of things but chooses low paying jobs. Thus making us struggle with our new house and truck notes. I work two jobs do freelance photography and take classes online. Always trying to better myself. He has never been unemployed but never chooses jobs i feel are equal to his capabilities. Is there something i am missing? Is there any thing i can do to make him realize he is better?
Lol a nagging wife i am far from. The reason i have a problem is because he fusses. He gets mad that they use him and all these things and I have to deal with the after effects.
Just to make a point I DONT NAG lol. Thank you all though.
Its amazing how many you are such a bad wife comments i am getting. When did it turn into the wife supporting the husband and the family. I am not talking about all these pro woman groups or anything. I am talking about in general why is it that the man can start slacking off when i work 98 hour weeks? Just to say haha.

I am interested in starting to freelance in areas such as data entry, copywriting/editing or other types of things related to general business. I know that in some areas of freelancing, it is a good idea to have a portfolio available to show your abilities and creativities, but is it necessary for the types of fields I am looking to try to get into?
I have never created a portfolio and am not sure what I would need to include. Is it ok to include things like Business Letters to ficticious companies to show the type of impact you can create from your work?
What about Data Entry spreadsheets? I have been working on an online project for a website that will eventually create an interactive and searchable database. I have been in contact with the project manager and was told that it is ok to use some of my completed work as an example, is this ok to use? If so, is it permissable or adviseable to use it as an .xlr file or would it be better to do it as a .txt file?
Any help or advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I graduated from ITT Tech last December with an associates degree in multimedia. I know a lot of the adobe programs and was taught a little bit in 3d modeling and animations. Now currently, I am taking classes online thru an art school to get my bachelors of fine arts in digital media production. On top of my degree I am also a single parent.
Now I have thought about going to craigslist to post as a freelance graphic artist but I really have no experience still in this area. Just my works from school and some advertising and flyer design skills that I had with my last job. Do you think I should go into freelance work before I find an actual job in this area to get the experience first?

I am wanting to get into freelancing online, and I am 16 so I don’t really want to go work at the supermarket or Fast Food Joint. Please though leave a comment on which you think is better, and why you believe that. I am interested in both about the same so I don’t already have a predetermined choice. All answers will be greatly appreciated.
Ok so I guess I will start with HTML. I have a book made by Microsoft for Web Design teaching HTML, XML, XHTML, and CSS. So thanks for the answers.

When I first read about the collection I wasn’t interested all all nothing really caught my eye. For once I’m splurging on myself, not for my makeup kit (I do freelance makeup work) I mix nc15 and nw20 to get my perfect foundation shade (my mom has yellow undertones, and my dad pink and I get them both nw, and nc look orange on me, but together it’s cool all foundations do this so I always mix foundations) skintone of that helps any of you makeup junkies.
But now that Ive seen pictures and swatches online I want pretty much everything. I only have 120-130$ this week (because it’s my sisters birthday weekend and I need money to go out) so what is a must have in the collection
I know for sure I want two of the lipsticks so so far 16.50×2 (I’m from canada)
1) Brave new Bronze (I have a problem I buy EVERY nude lipstick I see)
2) purple rite I’ve seen the swatches and I really like this one!
I might get sunsational instead of purple rite, but as of now I don’t really like it, maybe when I try it on I’ll like it better.
I don’t really like any of the glosses only one that I like is: Fierce & Fabulous, but because of the colour I have the purple lipgloss from HK, the purple dazzleglass funtabulous, I rarely wear this I just like the name. My other problem is I buy stuff because I like the name. ;P
Lustre drops: I kind of pushed it away when I first heard about it… but I’m kind of, really interested in all of them especially sunrush as a highlight. What do you think about these, no clue what they’re for though!
beauty powder blushes: aka my favourite ones. I want both, really bad but I can only get one which one do you think I should get? That is nice on light skin tones. If it was me I’d choose the pink ones because I love pink blushes, but maybe I should do a change and get the other one?
Bronzer pressed:
If I do get one I know it will be refined golden, and I know I’m getting this one because I always buy bronzers because they always make me orange even though I do all the right steps to get a perfect glow. If I don’t like it it’s going in my makeup kit.
Solarbits: I want all 3 of them, I might get them in 2-3 weeks when I have some more money.
nailpolish:only one I like is Mercenary but i dont know if i’m going to get it, because I usually get my nails done every 2 weeks or so with the same color. Teal the cows come home by OPI
the eyeshadows I want two: vibrant grape and bright future, but I will only get them if I can get it in pan form, vibrant grape I know is a pro color so I can always drive 15 minutes to the pro store to get it, and bright future I probably wouldn’t get that day I would decide if I really wanted it.
and omg does anyone else think the model for the collection is the most gorgeous model mac ever hired?!?!
I love her mixed race.

I graduated in Graphic Design in May 2008. There are only a few ad agencies in my area and they’ve tightened up and aren’t hiring. I’ve looked at freelancing online, but a lot of jobs go to designers in India who are willing to work for an hour. I do a TON of independent contractor work which helps pay the bills, but it’s temporary and sporadic work, not to mention, I’d really like to work in something I obtained a degree in. I’ve been lucky enough to have parents who care about me, and they have helped me with my rent for the past few months (from May 2008 until now, March 2009).
But things are getting dire now. I have spent all of my savings this whole time I’ve been unemployed. I’ve considered looking into foodstamps, but I never thought it would come down to this. I would collect unemployment benefits if I could. But I’m not sure grads who just haven’t found work are eligible for unemployment benefits (though I think they should be! What an awful time to graduate.)
I am so embarrassed about not having found a permanent design position yet. I would move away to a larger city on the West Coast in a heartbeat..except, I am stuck in Memphis, Tennessee because my fiance is enrolled in school here for another year. But even if he were ready to go elsewhere, we don’t have any money right now to move.
What can I do? I looked into Teaching, but I’d have to get a Masters in that, and that would be too much of a commitment (because ultimately I want to be able to do design). I’m applying to the US Census. I’m also continuously looking out for independent contractor work. I would wait tables, but I don’t have any serving/waiting experience….I never thought I would ever consider that to make money. I’ve always been a creative, geek, computer type.
I need to find a way to survive. I need to find a way to get some government assistance before I find myself starving. I need to find a way to make some money to put away so I can move away from this awful place. Please rack your brain and help me come up with solutions. Thank you.

I attended and graduated from Business College. I also went to another 4-year university and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, and I have extensive employment experience in the media. I’ve done creative writing and freelance journalism, I worked in radio and television, and I also worked in Marketing Research and Sales Presentations and Sales Pieces.
In the past couple of years, my work led into internet research and online sales. I would like to start my own Graphic Design and Web Design Business, but I don’t want to start working on another Bachelor’s Degree. I don’t know where to start. I’m familiar with PowerPoint and Aldus Pagemaker, and I bought Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash 8. I also bought a Photoshop "Classroom in a Book," teaching myself Photoshop. I plan to do the same for the other two.
What is the first thing I should do to start my own business? Do I need to go back to college? Are there any online guides that could help me?

I read notation, and have played guitar for music theatre groups with performances like Rocky Horror Picture Show and Reefer Madness. I’m looking for more stuff along those lines, where someone hands you a song book says "learn it" and then the group performs it, everyone gets paid, and then we all go home.
I am having trouble finding jobs like this. is there a way to find these jobs that i don’t know about? i keep looking online and that is really not working so far.

Hi,
I am already into marketing and distribution business and have a well established marketing firm.
Now, I would like to provide some livelihood to the ppl in my surrounding by employing them with data entry and a sort of freelancing work. Neither money nor manpower is a problem.
I have been through many online sites but could not differentiate the crap from the genuine work. If you are willing to partner with me by providing projects, kindly get back to me @ mikaarun@yahoo.com.

I used to work in software and have been on a career break ever since my child was born a year and 4 months back. During this break I completed a PMP certification. Now Im thinking of doing online software freelancing for a period of about 6 months at most before I go back to full time work. Had some questions – am hoping someone experienced would let me know.
. Which is the best site for online programming. With good traffic and no initial investment required from the developers.
-Have there been any issues in payment. Do they withhold deserved payments ?
-Is it easy to convert dollar payments to rupees and access in an Indian bank account.

I made ,250 last year doing freelance voieover work for two agencies. I received 2 1099-MISC for the work done. This has taken my refund down by a total of over 00 (fed & state combined). My child tax credit for my son is gone. I owe so much to the state of CT that my minimal federal refund can’t even cover it. Why would they take 1/2 of the money I made? This is very frustrating. I have figured this out on TurboTax and H&R Block online as well as talked to an H&R Block rep (who wanted 0 to file my taxes). Grrrr!!
I am not operating a business. I was providing voiceover work to a business for tv and radio. I really don’t have any expenses to claim – it was 15 from my house and I did all work at the studio.

I’m a freelance graphic designer I’ve been doing it for years as a professional.
In the past two weeks I had a customer contact me wanting a logo which seemed easy enough. I had him sign a design agreement, a standard one most designers have. He has distinctly got across exactly what he wanted it’s pretty easy to understand.
Here is my problem. He doesn’t like anything I give him AT ALL. He is one of those clients that has this idea in his head set in stone, he doesn’t describe in detail what he wants. He hates everything I create.
He has wrote me emails saying
"you clearly cannot read or understand english because we have a communication problem"
"I hate these designs did you find this somewhere online? I’m not impressed"
I’ve been in this business for a long time I know what I’m doing I have NEVER had a client hate something I did.
Here is where I’m having my dilemma
He signed a contact
I charged him 50% down-payment upon taking this project on.
He says he is not happy and I as the designer have decided there is not much more I can do for this man. I want to say "okay here is 50% of what you paid I’m going to have to keep the other 50% for the time I spent on this project" ,but I don’t have that written anywhere in my contact.
Are there any designers out there who have any suggestions for me?
Should I give him only half of what he paid back? or should I just refund all of his money?

I am job hunting like a maniac and having no luck (like so many others right now). I just graduated with my master’s degree (criminal justice) and have been doing freelance work (mostly writing) while in school. However, now that school is finished, I’m interested in finding more substantial work. I have been researching the concept of opening an online store and have come to several conclusions: there are a lot of scams out there; there are many different products/services that can be offered via an internet store; and I have no clue where to begin.
I would honestly prefer to go with a turnkey site, which would save me from having to build the site, add check-out software, set up Adsense, and many turnkeys I’ve looked at include purchase of the domain name with the package. But I’m not sure how to tell the scams from the legit sites.
One thing I do NOT want to get involved with is MLM, high-pressure sales, or affiliate marketing–I simply know my limits and I don’t have the personality for that kind of work. I would prefer a simple business based upon the exchange of a product for cash–I am not interested in scamming people for profit. I am the kind of person who is not happy unless she is actively doing or working on something, so the idea of having a tangible biz appeals to me.
I am also looking into drop-shipping, because there is no way I can afford to purchase inventory right now. My most recent freelance gig ended at the end of June, so I am bringing NO money in right now. Therefore, drop-shipping makes the most sense at this point.
What I am looking for is input on turnkey shops (do you hate them, know if any are legit, has anyone had personal experience with one, etc.) and any general thoughts/ideas/suggestions for someone in my position. I know very basic HTML, but there is no way I could build a storefront site on my own—so keep in mind that I’m not much use on the technical front.
I should also mention that I am NOT looking to get rich. If I could make ,000 per month, it would take a lot of pressure off the family budget. More than that would be great (especially because my student loan payments will be kicking in soon), but I wanted to clarify that I’m looking for a legit online biz and am not hoping to become a millionaire without doing any work. So please, no “get rich quick” schemes for me.
I really do look forward to hearing what those of you with experience have to offer. Thanks to anyone who has made it this far!

I am 21 years old and 4 classes shy from an Associates degree. I took a year off to have fun and figure out exactly what I like to do.
I have an internship as a Marketing Coordinator and I admit I am not a good intern , I find the work boring and restrictive.
I have over 1 year of sales experience and love sales, but don’t want to make a career out of it unless its outside.
HOWEVER, this year I joined a Street Team for a large concert venue in town and found that I loved promoting and networking. I have also discovered that I have a passion for planning parties, and I have a networking group in which I plan all the events. Plus I just got asked by a night club to plan some parties for them.
——————————————————————————
So the problem is that I want to get a degree in Advertising and Hotel & Restaurant Management but from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
I want eventually be a freelance Promoter and Event Planner, so will my clients care about where I got my degree?

I am willing to actually work for payment of course. I’m not looking for a get rich quick scheme. I am a full time student and part time freelance writer who needs a little extra money to pay the bills. The problem is that I’ve run into only scams in my search. Websites that claim you can earn 0 an hour if you invest 0. I don’t buy it.
I’m looking for something along the lines of an ebay power-seller type of thing. Well, anything really, but that’s just what interests me most. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I’m in the process of marketing myself online as a freelance writer and editor. (I’ve built a fairly simple website using Web Studio 4.0 software.) In order for people to send me documents for editing, I need a way to allow them to browse for the file on their own computer and upload it to mine. I’m vaguely familiar with the idea of an FTP site, but am not sure if that’s the best way to go. Any ideas on what might work best? Thanks!

I am looking to start a freelance writing business, but am a little confused on how the process works as far as taxes go.
For example, I plan to run my business by securing various projects, and working on whatever projects that I get. That said, I really have no guaranteed set monthly income or hourly rate. When I do get work, could I just use one of those online paycheck calculators, plug in my withholding numbers, and send in the amount that it says should be taken out for Federal, State, SS, etc. If so, I’m also confused on where it actually gets "sent to" and are there any special forms that I need?
Also, being that I am just starting to establish my business and haven’t earned a penny yet, what documentation should I get together to prove self-employment? I ask this because my COBRA is running out soon and I plan to apply for the State Children’s Health Insurance program for my daughter, and the Adult version for me, and I know I need proof of income/employment.
Once I start making some money, I plan to secure an accountant and an attorney to go over everything in detail, but I can’t afford that now. Any guidance someone can give me on how to get started in this aspect is appreciated, as I want to do things the "right way." Thank you!

So far i’ve managed to work for a few online sites…i’m currently a receptionist and cant stand doing this any longer. i started working as a freelance writer a few months ago and i’m worried that at 25 i may never make it to the prestigious magazines. i can’t afford to intern, hence i have financial responsibilities to take care of. Sometimes i feel like i’m too old to get an Editorial Position. Especially since i only majored in liberal arts in college. Am i too old to make it in the magazine industry?

I am an artist, I’m still in college, and I want to gather my portfolio of artwork to show potential employers and also to sell pieces of art.
How do I know my art is protected? Can’t they just steal my 2d digital art when I send it to them as a portfolio and use it however they want if it isn’t copywrited? Also, if I freelance online, and have a portfolio- couldn’t other freelancers save my art to their computer and use it in their own portfolios or sell it pretending its theirs?
As you know, art isn’t usually a high-paying field. I have many pieces of art to put in my portfolio & sell, & even if I used LegalZoom to copywrite, I’d still have to pay thousands of dollars that I can’t afford just to get my work copywrited.
Is their a way to protect my rights to my artwork without copywriting?

I just want to know how I’m going to pay cash to my 3D modeller for my mod, because I seriously want him to be on the team, and he’s not interested in unpaid jobs.
Here are some additional facts before you answer this question.
- I use no credit cards and I mustn’t use any.
- I don’t know international remittance or how to do it (Phillipines to Romania).
- I’m young (14), but I’m now a good negotiator to my group and modder in my days.
- I have cash, in home, and it’s Philippine pesos, not dollars.
- I have to pay him cash online if no step works

Hi.. I am looking for an online job, that will pay me at least .00 per hour.
preferably data entry, billing/invoicing, creating back links.
The problem is, it is hard to find employers due to I have no experience working from home.
I am looking for a business owner who can help me, if you know once, please let me know how I can contact them. I am ready to start at anytime.
I am also looking for freelance data entry job, do you know any good and legit site?
Thanks in advance.

Succumbing to my mundane existence, I find my self day dreaming about becoming a writer on almost a daily basis. There are however a few things holding me back. As well as a few choices that are hard to make. Do I need to go back to school? That is the choice most heavily debated between me and my spouse.
She argues that with hard work and dedication I would not need to sink more money into a college program. I however am not comfortable enough with my grammar or my ability to write for that matter. I have no doubt that I’m creative enough.
My college background is that of a technical trade school. I didn’t go to a normal 4 year college. I regret this choice. Mostly because it means I didn’t get the college English and writing that would have initially helped me, and because I owe them 30k. Not to mention my wife still owes about 20k of her own. I would really like to avoid more debt.
So, I guess what I’m asking is, how important is the degree to become a free lance novelist? Would I be better off going back to school earning a degree in English and History (I really want to write history based fiction). Or could I get away with taking some college courses online in English, and joining some kind of creative writing workshops. Or perhaps taking classes for creative writing online as well.
As you can see I’m never at loss for words. I can’t even keep a simple question short.
The last road block is my age. I’m 30 years old and taking on a new direction in life is very daunting to me. Especially a change that involves perhaps years of hard work and dedication, without seeing a return on investment instantly.
