Last year I separated from my wife. We hired a mediator and drew up an agreement in may of 2008. I paid and have always been current on the Dissomaster child support. In January of 2009 without notifying me, my wife filed for a Temporary spousal support order that asked for an increase in child support and also the maximum amount of spousal support.
I was not told of any of this until March 22nd of 2009, when I got a phone call from my wifes lawyer who accused me of evading service as they had been trying to reach me for 3 months. The funny thing is, I telecommute I am home all the time, at my known address. Both my wife and children have my address, so this appears to be just a ruse. In May we went to a hearing and the court rubber stamped her request without requiring any proof. My wife lied to the court and told them I was behind on child support and that I refused spousal support (she had previously asked for none) There was a long list of falsifications in the court documents she presented, but she did not have to provide any proof.
The result being that she is now flush with cash (She has 20k in the bank and she just sent my daughter on a 00 trip to Japan. I am supporting our 19 year old son as he is a full time student and I am also still making payments on Joint debt. The budget I presented to the court clearly showed that if they gave her the Judgement she was requesting (maximum amounts all) That I would not be able to make ends meet, but they rubber stamped her request anyway. Part of the order which she obtained included garnishing my wages at 60%, and they are garnishing me 0 a month for back spousal support (she got an award for retroactive spousal support to her filing date in January) They are also garnishing my wages 0 a month for back child support (for which I owe none). I also got no notice of the garnishment, there was a sentence in the original filing that said something like "An earnings assessment may be implemented without further notice", next thing I know I get a call from my employer telling me my wages have been garnished. This will all come out when it gets to trial and I provide proof of all of this, but in the meantime, I am financially destroyed, and cannot even afford to keep the lights on in my house, my employer thinks I am a deadbeat dad while my wife lives high on the hog. Hiring a lawyer was no help either, had I not hired a lawyer and went it on my own, I would still be where I am at with the courts and I would have an extra 00 in my pocket. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can get some immediate relief?
I told my lawyer at court that if my wife gets this judgement I will go into bankruptcy, she shrugged her shoulders and said "Well that’s what most people have to do". I have another attorney now, but he has told me I have to either settle with her or go to trial. The whole thing reads like an evil plot. I’m also pretty sure I have a civil case of abuse of process, but that will only involve more attorneys and more up front cost that I don’t have.

So you want to work from home ? Most people who work from home either own their own business or have made arrangements with their boss to work from home full or part time. If you think you would benefit from working at home, there are a few things you should look at before making the decision to approach your employer.
If you are currently working outside the home, you may be considering a work at home position. Consider the following steps prior to beginning this journey and possibility may become reality.
Your first course of action is to determine if working at home fits your personality. Not everyone does well working from home as there are benefits to working outside the home with customer interaction and co-worker socialization. An at home job requires self-motivation. No matter what field you work in, oftentimes important tasks slip through the cracks when someone it not a self-starter. Decide if working at home is right for you.
Once you have considered all sides of the argument, you should put together a written proposal. Not only for your employer, but it will help you to organize your thoughts.
Approach your employer just as you would if this was your first job interview with the company. You want your employer to see all the great things about telecommuting from home as you do.
Don’t burden your employer with your desire for more time with your kids, home, or spouse. Your employment depends on their need for you, not whether your needs are met in a well-balanced work-home situation. Discuss the benefits of telecommuting from home and how it relates to productivity. Remember, the company isn’t interested in your needs, so make your proposition about the company and it’s needs.
If there are potential conflicts with a work at home position, be prepared to discuss those with your employer. If you are caring for an ill, elderly parent, your boss will have concerns about the completion of your work. Remember, do not phrase your concerns for a home situation in the sense that this is what you need, but rather discuss the facts about your home situation and how it will not impact your work. If the above or similar situation pertains to you, make arrangements with neighbors or other family members to check in and help out during business hours, relaying this arrangement to your employer in order to address his or her concerns.
Upon completion of your pitch to telecommute, your employer will undoubtedly have concerns. Prepare answers ahead of time, anticipating as many questions he or she may have. Be sure to come prepared with research to back up responses to potential objections.

I ask this employment related question here because I know there are some really smart video people that brows here.
I was completely qualified for the position, according to the job description. I want to know if I did something wrong when I applied (no interview, telecommute position), or what was it about my portfolio or experience that didn’t work for them.
I work in video production, and have over 7 years experience in broadcasting, including an Emmy for news. I’d really like to know what makes my experience and portfolio so unattractive, because I haven’t been able to get out of news!
Can I ask this employer (and future ‘rejectors’) kindly, politely, WHY I wasn’t right for the position?
Here’s my portfolio:

I am a writer, with an actual staff job but payment is on a deferred basis plus royalties when the work is done. Big problem is while I can’t quit the job I have to make some cash and I have tried to get a online jobs which have proved to be scams from time to time and I can’t actually borrow any dough because I can’t promise to pay soon enough. Anyone know a way I can make some money or find a part-time telecommute job that might at least pay my bills? Or do you know any institution that can fund a struggling artist? I’ll appreciate any advice offered.

I am moving across the country in May, and want to keep my current job, but telecommute (I’m in IT so this is very do-able). When should I ask him? I think they may let me as I’m the senior IT person, and they trust me greatly. However if they say no I’d like to help find a suitable replacement (yes, I know it would be their responsibility, but I can’t leave this company in the hands of the only other developer. She’s a good programmer, but does NOT have the capacity for my job). I love working where I work and don’t want to give it up.
The girl I work with does not have the depth of knowledge or understanding that I do of our company’s systems, or of many of the issues that must be considered in the course of systems development. She knows all the steps of my job, but she doesn’t really know all the why’s, just the steps, and that’s not going to get anyone very far if I do leave. I am open to looking outside of the company for a replacement though.
It can also take a few months to find a replacement. Because of this they’d have to do interviewing at least a couple months in advance. However I’m due a raise and if I tell them too soon I may not get one!

Not bragging, just some thoughts, because I know we’re all suffering under this:
1) Take Navy showers (15 seconds to get wet, turn water off, later, 30 seconds to rinse, done)
2) Use wastewater from dishes on your plants
3) Insulate all pipes in the house
4) Get thick drapes to cover sun-facing windows
5) Carpool, cut back on auto use, alter drive times so that avoid traffic
6) Telecommute where possible
7) Grow your own vegetables
Any other ideas out there? And BTW, the Navy shower thing actually cut our gas bill by about 1/3. That’s even allowing one full shower a week as a reward.

I’m a non traditional college student reconsidering his major–working from home is likely what I want to do (I know because I’ve had a lot of jobs in my past). So what kind of careers offer the opportunity to telecommute? I only have about five years of experience in basic-level management. Oh yeah and anything dependent on good credit history is out of the question (like financial adviser, planner, etc). Also, computers and/or engineering cannot be considered because of the time demanded from the requisites of those majors.
Spammers will be reported asap…

I work far away, 3 days a week, and my wife is with the baby a lot. I love books, and I’ve always loved reading. So now that I have a baby, even though I telecommute on those other 3 days, I find time to read to my baby every day (at least once, usually twice). My wife, on the other hand, is not interested in books at all (besides what’s necessary to make good grades at school). She prefers instead to watch TV (a bad habit that I am afraid that my baby will pick up). She rarely reads to our baby. And even then, only when forced to (that gets tiring for me). Basically I am the only one reading to the baby, 5 days a week. I’d like to close this gap… any suggestions? Can I record my reading voice and have the wife just play it for the baby? How about hiring a nanny who loves to read (this would kill 2 birds with 1 stone)? I am *deathly* afraid of my baby growing up "average" or (God forbid) "below average" in reading, comprehension, and overall intelligence (real or percieved). HELP!

Here’s the deal…my marriage is ending (I have 2 kids). My co-worker just ended a LTR. We were out having fun after a day full of meetings, and at the end of the evening we ended up in her hotel room. I spent the night. It was really nice…first time I felt comfortable with someone in years. We never really had a chance to talk about that night (it has been three weeks). Today I finally asked her about it. She chalked it up two us both having some hard times and just wanted to have fun. She wants to still be friends. We don’t have to worry about it getting in the way of our jobs. She lives five hours away (we all telecommute) and only see each other periodically at meetings. I’ve alway liked her and now I want to explore the possibility of a relationship. She says she doesn’t want to go there. I don’t want to seem like I can’t accept that it was just a one night stand, but I’d like for it to have been more. I still want to try and sweep her off her feet. Should I try?

I am leaving my job after 18 years, 10 of which have been as a Business Analyst in the New York area. I am moving to the rural Midwest to be with my husband who has found a good job there. It doesn’t look like my current company will allow me to telecommute from home . Does anyone have any suggestions on what resources I can look at to find a job with a company that needs a well experienced Business Analyst and will allow me to telecommute? The town that I’m moving to is very small and there is no scope for me to work there. I would be willing to travel, but not too often since we have a young daughter who is under 1 year old.

My work screwed me over and I ended up having to quit (Basic summary: in addition to just being jack@$$es, they told me I would be one level where I could part-time telecommute and then changed it two months into my promotion; then they told me I could telecommute part-time anyway, and changed their mind during my maternity).
Because I quit "voluntarily," I have a feeling my unemployment will be denied while I search for a part-time or telecommute job, since I haven’t been able to make enough full-time to afford licensed childcare in my area. Are there any ways I can make a decent amount of money from home (at least several hundred per month)? I haven’t been able to find any other kids to care for, so that is out.

ok– here’s the situation— Recently, I had a friend who moved to BA and says it quite beautiful there, though he is living there illegally. As for me, I am working in Honolulu, and have lived for the past three years in NYC, where I recieved a degree.
My ethnic background is half french and chinese, and I am an American citizen, and I am willing to live in BA with a student visa, and my employer is still thinking about placing me, on a telecommute position. I do not want to break any federal laws, a course, but I do not want to go back to school, and my spanish is pretty good, and I would like to contribute to the BA economy, if I decide to live there, which means I would have to file taxes as an American citizen, and also to the BA government and its foreign policy system.
Now, if my telecommute position goes through, what would be the reprecussions if I prolong my stay, in BA by more than the 90 days as a tourist? In BA, its been said, it is rather liberal with Immigrant

In todays world, we (people) claim that everything is going so well. The economic is doing well. We have billionairs and millionaires. We can telecommute to almost everywhere. Life is just great. Almost everyone forgets that we achieve these with the expenses of others.
People, when are we going to wake up from this dream. As much as I like the free enterprise system, it still does not solve this global mass. It is sad to say but I think we will never going to see "heaven on earth".
In my book, intelligent in screwing with each other does not count. We are no different from animals. We only won it by being at the top of the food chain.
Peace!

I am back in college and am trying to decide which degree would allow me more flexibility or more opportunity to work part time (or telecommute.) Would a degree in finance or accounting be more inclined to meet my needs? The number one thing I want is to be a mom, but I want to have a little something for me to when the times comes for my children to be in school.

I am a .Net developer( i have a full time job) and I am trying to find a side gig to pay for some expenses that I have accrued. My twin girls were diagnosed with diabetis a year ago and the co-pays and medical expenses are a lot. So instead of sending my wife to work I would like to do a side job to pay for it and since I am a programmer I figured maybe someone will know where I can look. I tried craigslist under telecommute but not much luck. i don’t charge a lot and have an s-corp.

I live in a two-city conglomerate area of about 50,000 people (Central Louisiana – Alexandria / Pineville). I do not know of any corporations known for their software development, or needs for any, here. In your response, identify and discuss a counter-argument for each of these arguments:
· If businesses expand their employees’ opportunities to telecommute, they will increase employee productivity, decrease employee burnout and operational overhead costs, and improve their community by cutting down on traffic and pollution.
· Violent video games promote violent behavior in children and since efforts to prevent children from getting access to them have failed, they should be banned.
Then discuss how each author could address these counter-arguments in their essays. Your response should be in complete sentences and paragraphs and 200-300 words in length.

Hello,
i have several cordless phones purchased from big retailers.
These work fine, except if I wanted to telecommute, I’d like to have a good (economical) analog phone with microphone/speaker that I can plug in a earpiece/headset that it is convenient. It is ok if it’s not wireless as I don’t want to spend too much on it.
Let me know your thoughts on a good phone and a retailer that carries this!
Thanks!!

I have a few questions though.
What are the rules on benefits like health care and dental, 401k, etc? The job i am interested in the most is for 45 hrs a week before overtime.
How does the healthcare thing work?

AA Degree in Psychology/12 years Adm. Assistant/Receptionist/Secretary/Corporate Treasurer of 3 Corps./Data Entry. I’m persistantly going to pursue a telecommute position in Adm/Clerical. In spite of being scammed already, by mydatateam.com, I still believe that it’s possible. I’ve worked in family operated corporations, two of which i chartered myself. My father was impossible to please and insisted that I do all those job titles in 24hrs weekly. I was a woman to be kept in her place. I’m the only person in the family to earn a degree and I intend to do something with it. He wouldn’t allow me more hours to do the job efficiently. On the day he gave me a raise to hr, I quit. I feel that I wasted 12 years of loyality . I was pretty well maxed out there. Basically, since he let me down, I’ve become a little discouraged. But I plan to rise to the occasion, as usual. If only someone would just point me in the right direction. I know there are still angels, be mine.
