How To Be A Digital Nomad

my husband is; loyal, hard working, friendly and a great coworker. He is always there early and leaves late. Does the things other people dont want to do. But has the brick wall up about not finding a better job. He is certified in a number of things but chooses low paying jobs. Thus making us struggle with our new house and truck notes. I work two jobs do freelance photography and take classes online. Always trying to better myself. He has never been unemployed but never chooses jobs i feel are equal to his capabilities. Is there something i am missing? Is there any thing i can do to make him realize he is better?
Lol a nagging wife i am far from. The reason i have a problem is because he fusses. He gets mad that they use him and all these things and I have to deal with the after effects.

Its amazing how many you are such a bad wife comments i am getting. When did it turn into the wife supporting the husband and the family. I am moving across the country in May, and want to keep my current job, but telecommute (I’m in IT so this is very do-able). When should I ask him? I think they may let me as I’m the senior IT person, and they trust me greatly. However if they say no I’d like to help find a suitable replacement (yes, I know it would be their responsibility, but I can’t leave this company in the hands of the only other developer. She’s a good programmer, but does NOT have the capacity for my job). I love working where I work and don’t want to give it up.
The girl I work with does not have the depth of knowledge or understanding that I do of our company’s systems, or of many of the issues that must be considered in the course of systems development. She knows all the steps of my job, but she doesn’t really know all the why’s, just the steps, and that’s not going to get anyone very far if I do leave. I am open to looking outside of the company for a replacement though.

Here’s my issue. I’ve been with this company for a few years, love it. We have an intern working here currently, and they are going back to school in a month. A manager is allowing the intern to work from another state, from home for a few months. I think this is completely unfair – they are giving some intern that doesn’t necessarily know what they are doing (on federal contracts, mind you) work remotely, however none of us in the office, who have been here for many years, are given this option of telecommuting. The intern has already said he wants to stay on just for the money.

What should I do? Should I leave the manager a message saying its unfair, and either the intern shouldnt be allowed to, or the remaining staff should have the option?

I’m not whining, I just don’t think that the manager (she is new) thought about the repercussions of her decision. If one employee is allowed to work from home (with no reason such as disabled), then it should be an option for the rest doing the exact same job.

My work screwed me over and I ended up having to quit (Basic summary: in addition to just being jack@$$es, they told me I would be one level where I could part-time telecommute and then changed it two months into my promotion; then they told me I could telecommute part-time anyway, and changed their mind during my maternity).

Because I quit "voluntarily," I have a feeling my unemployment will be denied while I search for a part-time or telecommute job, since I haven’t been able to make enough full-time to afford licensed childcare in my area. Are there any ways I can make a decent amount of money from home (at least several hundred per month)? I haven’t been able to find any other kids to care for, so that is out.

OK so i am a little new to freelance online jobs and recently i have done a job and that person only says to pay through paypal. Now the thing is my family do not have a credit card and i have heard that you can only use a credit card in order to RECEIVE money.
So really… what should i do now? Doesn’t other debut cards work on it and i can get money through that?

Also on the paypal site, there are like two option things: personal and premiere. Which one allows me to receive money? I do not want to buy anything online.

Last year, I moved from State A to State B. While I lived in State B, I worked as an independent contractor for a website. I didn’t make enough from this job to get a 1099, but I do get that I’m still responsible to report it as additional income… that’s not the issue.

My question is mostly about my state tax returns. Now I didn’t start this contracting work until I moved to State B, so I’m assuming that this income only counts toward my return for State B, as far as my state tax returns go. However, the company is not based out of State B. Does that create any logistical conflicts I should be aware of?

Also, this was my only income earned while in State B, which means I don’t have a W-2 for my State B return. Should I, then, report this as "additional income", even though it was my only income earned in State B?

A friend of mine who was severely injured in a car accident (his vehicle was slammed into, by a drunk driver who was trying to send a TEXT MESSAGE, while driving!) is now confined to a wheelchair (hopefully, not for the rest of his life) and needs to have a job that he can do from his home computer, which I understand is called "TELECOMMUTING."

He’s never done this kind of work before, but I understand that AT&T (for example) employs 7,000 people nationwide, who stay at home and do their work assignments by computer, without having to do any traveling, at all. That sounds like the ideal situation for my friend, and for others, too, considering that in the USA, gasoline prices are now over /gallon.

Anyway, I’d like any links that you know about, that offer legitimate employment to someone seeking that kind of work. I’d be grateful for whatever information you could share with me, regarding this, and I thank you (in advance, on behalf of my friend) for your assistance.

A friend in his 70s married a woman 2 yrs. ago.She immediately quit her job. I went to school one year for computer science and took C++, but that was almost 10 years ago so I would definitely need a refresher. I’m faced with a dilemma. I used to believe that the person who works the hardest has the best work ethic. That is, untill I got a job of my own. There is this girl working at my place who’s been there 4 years, works really hard, does stuff that’s not even on the list of her duties, goes above and beyond and still only makes $.50 more an hour than me. Now, I think she’s just stupid and letting the corporation use her. When I look at her I feel sorry for her, but can’t tell her why.

I do my fair share, but do not go beyond that, unless I know it will benefit me in the long run (ex. working full time guarantees that I can pursue continuous education for which the company pays, otherwise, I would have stayed home and did a lot of the work part time, telecommuting).

Now, wich one of us has the right idea of good work ethic? Or, perhaps neither? Why?

This feeling is new to me. My friends are clearly says I am in love. Because I cant sleep well, eat well, even I cant talk more to others. I am fully disturbed. So that I propose my love to her. But she says you are a Muslim, I am a Brahmin, my parents are not accept this. I am not interested in love. Next few days I am fully miserable. I just recently got back from Australia and immediately jumped into doing some freelance design work. Coming back from a foreign country, I was entirely broke, so I decided to pick up a job to start getting some cash coming in.

The project involved about 33 hours of labor on a website design and I delivered and was paid about 00.00. I posted the site online and it was working with one small problem that was not related to me – their host had PHP4 installed instead of PHP5.

During the course of working for them, they asked me to make copious amounts of revisions, more than a client usually will ask, to the point of me not wanting to work with them. I carried out my contract obligation, but when the problem with their website arose, I recommended that they transfer to a new server that had PHP5, but that I wouldn’t be available to help them further.

Three weeks later and many avoided phone calls on my part, they’re now threatening to sue me because the website does not work.

The contract I wrote was not written per project, but based on number of hours completed. I delivered my end of the bargain…but now because of something out of my control, they’re threatening to sue me.

What’s worse is I have no assets for them to take if they win – I’m literally still pretty broke.

What do I do? Have I done anything wrong aside from screen their calls?

After completing my degree during last summer as well as finishing a great internship with a popular, local newspaper, I graduated with a BA in English at the end of August 09′.
I also was on the honor roll five times out of my four years, was the Vice President and a member of my college’s chapter for the International English Honors Society, and have great references.

However,I can’t get a dang job! It’s been about 8 months, and all I have for that is two lousy temp jobs working as a debt collector, and customer service rep, as well as publishing 18 articles online for freelance work.

I’ve been submitting my resume all over to jobs I feel I am qualified for and am lucky to even get a response. No one will even interview me! Out of the 40+ jobs I applied to, I’ve had two interviews. I keep being told that they need ‘More Experience.’ But…no one will give me a chance.

Any tips for a recent grad who loves to write, tutor has experience in journalism/ and some editing?

I’m currently working as an employee in a software company earning at least 3 USD per hour. Been working in the company for 5 years. I’m planning to save up 20 thousand USD so that I could survive for 10 months without a job. I’m planning to go freelance cause I think I can earn more than my current job if I go freelance. My wife has a job in the U.S that lets her telecommute using Voip. We are planning to move to UAE. I work as a web designer via outsourcing. I’m in the Philippines and my boss is based in California. We had an argument in skype chat. He told me that I’m not following instructions and doing some crappy work. He even told me I wasn’t doing what I paid for. I sent him documentations proving I’m doing exactly what he says. It turned out as if it was a debate. He’s always doing this. He is so vague. He’s changing his instructions when he wanted to. He got mad and told me he’s the boss, I don’t have to argue with him and get the job done.

Despite this I want to apologize because this is my only means of income. I have a baby coming. I’m in great need. I know it’s my right to defend myself. I just stood up for my rights. But like they said,
