I want to include in a paper i am writing, examples of firms that have not succeeded in starting telecommuting in their organization. Maybe they started and later on failed because of the change in the structure of the organization or something else happened. send examples with links to sources please.
Thanks in advance.

Hi.. I am looking for an online job, that will pay me at least .00 per hour.
preferably data entry, billing/invoicing, creating back links.
The problem is, it is hard to find employers due to I have no experience working from home.
I am looking for a business owner who can help me, if you know once, please let me know how I can contact them. I am ready to start at anytime.
I am also looking for freelance data entry job, do you know any good and legit site?
Thanks in advance.

I am a sophomore in college, and am considering majoring in Communications Studies. As this is what many established technical writers have as their background, I think this is a good choice to support a possible decision for technical writing to be my career. However, what companies employ in this area? I live in a fairly small town. Is telecommuting a possibility? Also, how does one enter the field fresh out of college? Thanks in advance.

I do not have much to put on a resume apart from things I have written for school. I do have one article I wrote for a local horse magazine and that is about it.
What are some good online places to look for work? Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Okay here’s the deal. I am taking an online college course and my teacher is a complete idiot. I am not saying this because I do not like her or anything like that, but more than once I have proved her wrong along with nearly ever other person in my class. She always grades my papers wrong and has to redo them after she realizes it and then she will submit something to me saying that she is sorry but will still have to take points off because it is a state run online college course and it will look as if she is "giving me a break". Whatever that means, because I really don’t know. Well I recently turned in this quiz listed below and she gave me a grade of 80. This is not a bad grade I know, but I know the answers I submitted were right as I researched and asked others employed in the profession if my answers were correct. I would like to know your answers and I made a deal with her that if I can get at least 10 other people that do not know my initial answers to the quiz to answer the questions the same way that I did, she will give me a full grade. So thanks in advance!
The quiz is about graphic design, marketing, sales, and advertising.
1. What are the differences between a “strategy” and a “tactic” in advertising?
2. What is an SMP? Why is it important?
3. What is “Positioning?” How does an agency help their client achieve this?
4. List three advantages and three disadvantages of working as an independent contractor (freelance designer, photographer, etc) rather than working in an agency.
5. How does an independent contractor know how much to charge for services provided to clients?
6. Write a description of a real or made-up example ofGuerrillaa marketing.
7. Describe one typical section usually found in the written agreement between the client and the agency (Hint: the “Proposal” document and the “Terms and Conditions” document will combine to create the written agreement which will be signed by both the client and agency)
8. How would you handle the difficult situation below?
Your client says you are taking too long to complete the work they asked for. You think they do not understand the process, particularly since there were several change orders to deal with.
9. What kind of problems sometimes come up within the agencies internal management? – How can they be solved?
10. Why is it important that problems within the creative team environment be solved?

I am a full time worker suffering from burn out in a "career" I fell into 10 years ago. I have no previous education other the H.S.
I have a huge interest in computer design. Not so much architectural, or engineering but advertising and possible web design. I have a continually growing interest and experience in computers. And know this is a good career path.
I just am so lost with what this "interest" of mine would be titled and how long a part time education would take me. And the biggest issue is I have a decent living and lifestyle based around it where I am now. So what type of income can one expect in this field?
Thanks in advance.

I’ve been looking for over a year now. I want to be able to stay at home with my daughter and work from home. Everything I’ve seen online so far wants you do pay for something. Whether it be shipping & handling, membership fees, start up costs, ect. I just want something that is legitimate. I’ve tried Google AdSense, Spiderweb Marketing, I’ve talked to the people from Ameriplan, and I even was shown a presentation earlier today about Melalauca. Those are a few of the companies I’ve seen, but you have to buy something or it doesn’t make any money. I don’t want to do freelance work, I don’t want a home based business, I don’t want to have to pay for ANYTHING, and I don’t want to fall into another scam. It’s pretty hard to raise a family off of my fiance’s 9$ an hour job. It’s hard enough just to afford food most of the time. Does anyone know of a legitimate way to make money online. I’m not looking to get rich quick. I just want to make a decent amount of money to be able to help with bills and food and such. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Thanks in advance!
I’m also not interested in surveys. They always ask to sign up for a free trial of some sort. I do not own a credit card, nor would I want to. And the ones that don’t have special offers I’ve noticed that I don’t qualify for sometimes. I’m looking for an actual job.

I took a job in the second half of 2008 from a company in CA. After a few months of me working for them (telecommuting, effectively), they moved me to CA.
I earned roughly half of my income from them as a resident of NY, and the other half while as a resident of CA.
When filing my NYS and CA income tax returns, I’m confused as to how to divide up my income.
From what I’ve gathered via Turbotax’s questions, NYS wants me to claim all the income I earned while I was living in NY, regardless of the source, and CA wants me to claim all income earned from CA sources, even before I became a resident of CA.
Basically, it seems like there’s an overlap of that few months of income at my new job that both states want me to claim.
Does anyone have experience with this, or any clearer understanding of the situation? I hope I’ve explained this well enough.
Thanks in advance!

Do I need to change any verbs? If so which ones? Add or delete any words. Thanks in advance!
Because of the increasing popularity of telecommuting, it is necessary for us to be more careful in our plans for information security and for our employees’ health and personal safety. We wish it was possible to talk to each employee individually, but that is impossible. Instead, we have prepared a "Telecommuter Employees Guide" which includes structured agreements that specify space, equipment, scheduling, communications, and conditions of employment. The complete guide should be given to whoever is about to begin a telecommuting assignment. We appreciate you discussing the following recommendations with any of your staff members whom are considering telecommuting.
Arranging the Home Workspace
• Create a space where you can expect minimal traffic and distraction.
• Make it comfortable but with sufficient space for computer, printer, and fax.
• Make your workspace off-limits to family and friends.
• Provide proper lighting and telephone service.
Ensuring Information Security
• Remember that you’re home office is an extension of the company office.
• Be careful to protect information and avoid computer viruses.
• Be sure to backup and store data and other information in a safe place.
We do not recommend at-home meetings for telecommuters. By the same token, we suggest using postal boxes rather then home addresses. We also require smoke detectors in home work areas.
To have any questions answered, my assistant or I can be reached at Ext. 310.

I have been a stay at home mom since my baby was born (he is now 16 months old). I have a chance to return back to work, 10-20 hours a week telecommuting from home and ocassional meetings where I have to go to the office. Living on just my husband’s income is tight but do-able as long as we budget. My question is this: should I continue to be stay at home mom til my son is in preschool or should I work part time? My concern with my working part time at my old office is that I may easily get sucked into working after hours (I am a litigator and it’s difficult to turn your back if you are on the case and a rush comes in). I’d especially like to hear from moms who have tried both part time jobs and stay at home and their insight re what they liked better. Does returning to work part time impede or improve quality of time with your child and what other impact, if any, has it had on your, your husband’s and your child’s life? Thanks in advance!

I have a telecommuting job for a large s/w company, but want to telecommute from somewhere warmer in the US for a couple of months, and don’t want to let my boss know
Can the IT dept easily know my whereabouts if my boss asks them?
I am using a company laptop and use the following s/w to connect:
- Verizon air card (completely 100% my own) – based on Qualcomm 3G CDMA
- VPN client: Cisco v 4.8.x or higher
- VOIP soft phone: Cisco Communicator 2.x (I use this for internal conf. calls)
- MyDesktop: is a company proprietaty software, which allows system admins to automatically upgrade your laptop with upgrades; and a central location for IT messages/warnings. Also supplies licensed sw delivery
My initial guess is that the company’s VPN server will be able to see the VPN connection request coming from an IP address that is owned by Verizon. However, what I am worried about, is that the cell tower / satelite uplink company name will be added to the foot print, such as "Florida Telco", "Hawaii Telco", etc…
Thanks in advance !!
Thank you for the responses already received. Please note the following clarification to my question…
Based on the information provided earlier, and from a *purely technical standpoint* …
1. does my company have the technical means to find out my general geographical location – if I am dialing in from a different state?
2. If so, how can they know?
3. Is it possible for me to block that info?
Thanks again

Considering the internet and telecommuting in addition to traditional, physical (actual) location work, what might be something I could move out away from the city to do (am no longer able to do strenuous, physical work)?

I am a freelance designer interested in offering restaurant clients the option for customers to order online. Which language or technology is used to make that happen?
I know there are independent companies that can set up a service for you, but it seems as easy as creating a selectable online menu that can be transmitted via email. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Thanks in advance.

For this new job, I need to be in the office. But I think I can handle telecommuting job before/after work or during weekend. (I just need to get things done. When I work is not terribly important for telecommuting job.)
Is this Legal? I am reading lots of posts that it is in yahoo answers page, but also saw someone saying it is not legal. I can’t find legal documents that states it is legal or illegal.
Am I required to tell my employers? They are in different industry and not competitor whatsoever. (no conflict of interest in that matter)
I really want to know definite answer. I read people who have done it, but it looks like it is in different shift like 9am-5pm, 6pm-2am. In my case, it can overlap, in somewhat similar like a writer for wallstree journal (I am not writer) writing for another freelance job while he is in the office…
Thanks in advance. I don’t know how this will turn out, I might quit one job (most likely) in a few months IF I can’t handle both
Yes, It is legitimate full time position. I get salary and small year end bonus.
I have not signed any kind of agreement other than standard employment agreement which didn’t say anything about not having another job…
