I am now in business partnership with the ceo of that I used to work for although the business is stagnant and has made no money for me so far.

I am lost with what to do. I feel so frustrated, that no one wants me and am beginning to take out my frustrations on others. When someone applies rejecting me and telling me I am not needed it feels better than no reply at all.

Im thinking about going to Uni to study something computer based.

I’ve been a avid computer user since i was very young and it seems like the obvious career move. I mainly enjoying using tools such as Flash and PS. Hobby wise i make animation shorts and use photoshop to create different things like avatars and desktop wallpapers.

Im also into building websites, although i mainly use basic wordpress templates then edit them myself using WinSCP.

Career wise i think i would suit the 9 till 5 working week, and i dont mind being mainly office based. I have looked into many different ways of making money without being involved with a company and the building and sale of websites/landing pages sounds very appealing.
Currently im a barman, and have been involved in the catering industry since i was 14 and hate it. I would definately say that i have had enough of serving the general public. Whilst working at my local i have been working from home to generate some extra income by designing banners and flash advertisements for small-time websites, as well as dabbling within the affiliate marketing sector.

Hi mommas – I want to run something by you. I am 32.5 weeks pregnant with my first baby – I work full time, as does my husband, at the same place (but different depts.). Another girl in my dept. had her 1st baby last April and asked for, and was given, 2 days telecommuting upon return from maternity leave. I talked about my return with the same supervisor, who said I could have 1 telecommuting day upon my return. I was really disappointed with this (was hoping for two days), but can kind of understand that I have a different duties than this other girl and that upper management doesn’t look highly upon telecommuting to begin with.

But then I found out today that my husband talked with his supervisor about a couple choices, like working 4 10-hour days or working on a Saturday (and thus having one day off during the week), and while his boss was amenable to either, upper management again came down on both suggestions and did not approve either.

So now I’m looking at the likelihood of my working from home one day of the week, and putting the baby in daycare for 4 days of the week while my husband and I both work. I’m freaking out about this, both emotionally and financially. We both work at a higher institution and while everyone initially talked about being flexible and family-friendly, I do not feel that is actually the case. I’m really pissed about this, too – one colleague gets to telecommute twice/week, but I only get 1 day? And my husband gets none?

Anyway. What I’m wondering is, for those of you who put your baby in daycare (after a 3 month maternity leave), what was that like for you? Was it no big deal – i.e., am I overreacting to the thought – or is it a terrible idea?

I.E., pay by the job, versus by the hour? I am a small business owner and I would benefit more from paying a commissioned salary versus paying by the hour. So, no work no pay. OK, in case I did not make myself clear in my initial question, I plan on paying an employee on commission, this means that if he does *NOT* work, he does *NOT* get paid, he will be working from home, will be on call, any calls I get for work he can do, I pass on to him. How is that "stiffing" him? Furthermore, he’s ok with a commission. He would actually get paid *less* if he was paid by the hour.

I have a tendency to work better alone than with others and i want to explore a new computer oriented career. are there jobs that would allow me to make a decent yearly salary telecommuting or working from home on a pc. i dont mean taking online surveys! i mean working for a legitimate company with a salary and benefits working in my home pc. the reason i ask is because i am a good worker and very talented and intelligent but have a hard time in the workplace and tend to get stressed out unless i am just left alone to work with myself. i would love to work on a computer doing web design graphic design but am not closed off to other ideas. i would further my education to do this (only have 2 year music degree), and i am a pretty fast typist ( forgive spelling here) but this is also cause i want to start building another business on my owm slowly and need solid income.but being sort of gorophobic is this an even a remote possibility. thanks for all the input it is very much appreciated

I have home office as well as an office at work. I work about half of the time from home with company provided laptop. Per my telecommute agreement with my company, I need to constantly connected to company’s network via VPN when working from home and call in with my own phone in case there is tele-conf. I don’t know if worth to file 2106 for the expensens such as home office, phone, and internet access charge? I appreciate any advice.

I’ve been telecommuting for a year with a company I’ve worked for for 5 years. I am half-way across the country from any of my company’s facilities. When I moved here last year and started working from home, I purchased computer equipment and furniture for business use and was reimbursed for it. Now I think I will be leaving this company. How should I expect to return these assets to them? A couple of the computer peripherals can and will be shipped to them, but other items are impossible or pointless to ship, like furniture or a land line phone that is not compatible with their phone systems. Will I be asked to pay for these items? If so, how should they be depreciated? I have done some research and found that office furniture is typically assumed to have a 7-year lifespan for tax reasons, but I highly doubt my IKEA floor model desk will last that long, and I can’t imagine getting a 85% return on any of these things, furniture or electronics, if I were to resell them.

I am a graphic designer, in the field for 5 years, and my job is done 100% on the computer.
